Meet Charlitta Hatch
Charlotte Raised.
Charlitta Hatch is a proud graduate of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and a lifelong product of the community she now seeks to serve. From walking the halls of local schools as a student to now walking them as a parent and advocate, Charlitta’s journey is rooted in a deep understanding of our city’s history, its promise, and its challenges. She’s a first-generation college graduate who went on to earn degrees in business and education and she is proof of what’s possible when families, schools, and communities work together. Her leadership has been recognized across Charlotte for over 2 decades as she has served on nonprofit boards, civic commissions, and in community rooms where real decisions are made.
Family Focused.
Charlitta is a mother of one CMS student and a preschooler. For nearly a decade she has been focused on uplifting children and families through storytelling and advocacy. She is a 3x children’s book author, elevating stories of representation and identity. Her lived experience as a mother navigating school choice, special programs, and parent-teacher dynamics fuels her passion to ensure every family’s voice is heard. Her doctoral research in Urban Education centers the experiences of Black mothers and affirms what she already knows firsthand: families aren’t just stakeholders. They are co-creators in student success. Charlitta’s approach to leadership is grounded in listening, building trust, and strengthening partnerships between schools and the people they serve.
Future Ready.
As the Chief Data and Analytics Officer for the City of Charlotte, Charlitta leads citywide efforts to use data, innovation, and AI to solve big problems and drive equitable outcomes. She brings a tech-forward, heart-centered mindset to every table and is always asking how we can make systems smarter, fairer, and more accountable. From launching smart city solutions to building data communities of practice, she’s proven what’s possible when government works transparently and strategically. Now, she’s ready to bring that same clarity and boldness to the CMS Board as she works to build safe schools, empower educators, close equity gaps, and prepare our students not just for the next grade, but for the future they deserve.
